A Small Logger Burned a Hole in his Canvas

Note: Foster is my 7-year-old nephew. "Bompa" is a child's mispronunciation of "Grandpa," and "Tee Tee" is a child's mispronunciation of "auntie," sometimes shortened just to "teat."

About My Dad

Mike Dugan: Right now he's snaking along some distant highway or standing under the fluorescent lights of a truck stop in Texas or Nebraska or maybe Wyoming. He drives a jet black Peterbilt with a sleeper cab in back. A pair of heavy curtains hang on either side of the cab behind the driver's seat. He can close them for privacy while in his cozy bunk if he wants to, though he says he usually keeps them open while he sleeps, “so I have a view from my bed. I travel through some pretty darn scenic territory.”

His is a view worth looking at, but he’s busy driving a truck and isn’t inclined to write much down.
